The Audi Q7 and the Acura MDX are two luxury SUVs that offer room for the whole family. Which one is right for you, though? To help families in Ithaca, Corning, and Binghamton decide, Audi Ithaca put them up against each other in this Audi Q7 vs. Acura MDX comparison.

Specs & Capability

The Audi Q7 comes with standard quattro® all-wheel drive. You can count on this system to provide you with reliable traction in any conditions. The Acura MDX offers all-wheel drive but comes with standard front-wheel drive.

Under the hood, the Audi offers lots of power with a supercharged 55 TFSI® 3.0L V6 engine. It gets up to 329 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. With that kind of power, you'll be able to tow up to 7,700 pounds.

The Acura MDX runs on a 3.5L V6 engine. Despite being slightly larger, it's not as powerful. It only offers up to 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. As a result, it can only tow up to 5,000 pounds.

Interior Dimensions

Both luxury SUVs come with three rows of seats and offer room for up to seven people. However, the Audi Q7 offers a little more space where you need it most. For example, the front row features space for tall drivers with 39.9 inches of headroom. The Acura MDX has a slightly lower ceiling with just 38.1 inches of headroom.

Passengers in the second and third rows will also have some extra space to stretch their legs. The Audi has 38.2 inches of legroom in the middle row and 29.2 inches of legroom in the back seats. The Acura can feel a bit cramped with 36.6 inches of second-row legroom and 28.1 inches of rear legroom.

Each SUV is also built to give you lots of cargo room. While they both feature large trunks and folding seats, the Audi again offers more space. With the second and third rows folded down, you'll have up to 69.6 cubic feet of cargo room. The Acura has only 68.4 cubic feet of cargo room.

Infotainment System

The Audi Q7 has a stylish dashboard with a well-designed infotainment system. An 8.3-inch display rises up from the top of the dashboard to give you lots of smartphone compatibility. Bluetooth®, Apple CarPlay®, and Android Auto™ all come standard. Using the system is easy with voice control or the MMI® touchpad on the center console.

You can also find the fastest route to your destination with MMI® Navigation plus. It delivers turn-by-turn directions and detailed maps. You'll be able to view them on the dashboard screen or over on the Audi virtual cockpit. This 12.3-inch digital display upgrades the instrument cluster, so you can see where you're headed or get updates on your drive.

The Acura MDX comes with all the same smartphone compatibility and offers its own navigation system. However, its dashboard looks cluttered with two screens stacked on top of each other. It also features a standard instrument cluster with a small screen for alerts.
